An AI tutor for your notes

Didn't follow a step in the lecture? Ask. AI Chat answers questions about your notes, based on the note you're looking at, and you can keep the conversation going.

Lectures move on before every question gets asked. Readings assume knowledge you don't have yet. Office hours are once a week. AI Chat fills the gap: it lives on every note and answers questions about that note, so you can clear up confusion the moment it appears instead of carrying it into the exam.

Ask it to explain a term in simpler words, to walk through a process step by step, to compare two ideas from the lecture, or to give an example. Follow up as many times as you need; the conversation keeps going, so 'and what happens if that step fails?' makes sense without starting over.

Because the answers are based on your note, they stay close to the topic and framing of your course rather than drifting into a generic explanation from somewhere else. That makes it a useful study partner for your own material. It's not a replacement for your lecturer or your reading, and it's worth checking important claims against the source.

The most valuable way to use an AI tutor is to make it check you, not just tell you. Explain a concept in your own words and ask whether you got it right. Ask it for a question you could be asked in an exam, answer it, and ask for feedback. That keeps the effort, and the learning, on your side.

Good questions get good answers. Instead of 'I don't get this', try 'what's the difference between these two terms in this lecture?' or 'can you give me a worked example of step three?'. Specific questions give answers you can check against the note.

How it works

  1. Open a note

Pick the lecture, reading or video you're working on.

  2. Open AI Chat

The chat is on every note and works from that note's content.

  3. Ask a specific question

'Why does X lead to Y?' gets a better answer than 'explain this'.

  4. Follow up

Ask for an example, an analogy or a simpler version until it clicks.

  5. Check yourself

Explain the idea back in your own words and ask if anything is missing.

Worked example

Questions about a statistics lecture on hypothesis testing

Recorded lecture · Statistics 200 · 52 min (fictional example)

Student question
What does a p-value of 0.03 actually mean?
Answer
If the null hypothesis were true, results at least this extreme would occur about 3% of the time. It is not the probability that the null is true.
Follow-up
So why do we compare it with 0.05? The answer explains the significance level chosen before the test.
Self-check
The student explains a Type I error in their own words and gets a correction on one detail.

What it looks like

From the sample note on a cellular respiration lecture.

Why does the cell need oxygen for this?

Oxygen sits at the very end of the electron transport chain and takes the spent electrons. Without it the chain backs up, and the cell falls back on glycolysis alone, which makes far less ATP.

So that's why muscles switch to fermentation?

Good to know

  • AI Chat works from one note at a time; it doesn't answer across a whole notebook.
  • Answers can be wrong. Check important facts against your lecture, slides or reading.
  • It supports your understanding; it isn't a substitute for doing the thinking in assessed work.
